A new voice in business technology

We introduce our new magazine and its first issue exploring the impact cloud computing is having on some of the UK’s leading companies

Welcome to the first issue of Business Technology, a new magazine that aims to provide practical, top-level advice for senior management about the use of technology in business.

In the coming months, we’ll be taking a close look at all the key technology trends that board members need to know about, such as cloud computing, information security, big data, outsourcing, “bring your own device” (BYOD) and many, many more.

We hope that Business Technology will help to create a community of senior professionals who want to share their experiences – good and bad – of using technology to improve their organisations. It will help decision-makers understand the implications of different approaches and support them in making the right technology choices for their business.

This month, we focus on cloud computing and ask easyJet CIO Trevor Didcock – recently awarded the title of number one CIO in the UK – how the cloud has helped to “turn Europe orange”. Other companies who share their experience of the cloud include Rentokil, Ocado, Holiday Extras, Jurys Inn, Mitchells & Butlers and Marsh & Parsons. On page 11 we also speak to Ian Cohen, group CIO for insurance and reinsurance business Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT). On other pages you will find a summary of what’s been making the headlines in the world of business technology, the latest on information security and a special feature in which several different companies explain how businesses can make the most of social media.

We hope you enjoy it. If you would like to comment on anything you read in the magazine, please feel free to get in touch with us via email or the website – biztechreport.co.uk.
